Christmas Crafts with Hobbycraft

You guys, I don’t care what you say it’s time to start getting excited about Christmas. We’ve collaborated with Hobbycraft again this joyful season to do some Christmas crafts with Wren.  This type of thing is perfect for getting the kids excited during half term, and if it’s been raining, you’ve got the perfect indoor activity to keep them occupied.

So first up, you can’t do Christmas crafts without hot chocolate, it’s the rules.  So, we made a few mugs, sprinkled in the mallows and sat down to get started on our crafting (with Arthur Christmas in the background) I’ve always been excited to make new traditions with my own children at Christmas time and top of my list this year was a Christmas Eve box.  They’re perfect for filling with all your Christmas Eve activities, your Santa supplies and in our case, a new pair of Pjs!

Hobbycraft have a selection of amazing boxes that you can decorate yourself with their endless supply of Christmas paraphernalia.  We chose this box, embossed with the undeniably Christmassy quote “Twas the night before Christmas” for only £15.  The price of the boxes are great, and i can vouch for the quality being amazing too, they’re definitely built to last as many Christmas Eves as you see fit.

To go along with our Box we chose a selection of stickers, glue, glitter, Christmassy scenes and more.  Wren was in her element and i wont lie, Calum and i were pretty into it too (you’ll be able to tell which Reindeer was his…) my favourite things were the foam sticker scenes.  We had the Nativity, and some classic Christmas Characters.  They were perfect for decorating the sides of the box and creating little Christmassy Scenes.

We decided to try our hand at making a hanging garland for the fireplace too,  this is where it got slightly competitive.  Using our Snowman and Reindeer foam shapes, we decorated their faces using the glitter glue, gingerbread men and coloured gems we picked.  We strung them all together and hung them from the fireplace and i think they look fab.  This is a great family activity that everyone can take part in, get everyone to make their own design and you’ll see who’s really got those competitive genes!

I can’t wait to fill our box with all the Christmas Eve activities we plan to do.  This is such a great half term activity to get the kids excited about Christmas and it can be done every year.   As Wren and Iver get older it will be such a wonderful memory for them, and isn’t that the main thing, making memories with your family at Christmas?  I sure think so!
