Wren & I

Today Wren and i went to Border Berries with my Mum, my friend Sophie and her kids, Angus and Tilly.  I’ve been meaning to head here for weeks but the weather just never seemed good enough, or it then seemed too good and we didn’t want to go anywhere #weatherproblems

I dressed us in head to toe COS stores, Wren got her first dress there this week and i got these culottes (similar) (because they’re the only trousers i tend to wear) and i couldn’t wait to get us in them.  I discovered COS for real just before i got pregnant and it’s been my one stop shop from then on, even whilst i was pregnant! I didn’t have to sacrifice my style to maternity clothes, because the style and fit of everything COS offers is just awesome.  I’ve been waiting a whole year for Wren to fit their stuff.  It’s one of the only shops i shop in for myself and i’ve always loved how cool the kids stuff is too!

I packed up our Radley bags to take too, sometimes the scabby rucksack just doesn’t do the job so i matched us up with the tote and cross body bag! It’s great as it means i can keep my phone, camera and a small pack of wipes etc in the little bag and keep all the nappies and snacks in the big one.  You may think i’m mad for putting this stuff in such a nice looking bag, but i think it’s flippin’ great and it certainly looks fab! It might not be a changing bag, it’s probably not intentional, but all the pockets and compartments on the inside are amazing for stashing all the things we need to take with us!

Unfortunately there were very little strawberries left today(Wrens favourite) but we managed to get a punnet together and got a few raspberries too.  I’m thinking of making something with them this weekend and it will also include a butt ton of white chocolate!!

The Berry patch is a great place to take kids, free to get in, there is a small coffee shop for a seat and picnic and the kids will spend the whole time running around burning energy, and eating fruit. Win win!!

We headed to my favourite place in the Borders afterwards for my one coffee of the day and some cake. Mainstreet Trading Company, the best book shop, deli, coffee and gifts around.  Its a bit of me.  I had a flat white and a big ol’ cheese scone, Wren had a bit of a nibble too.  I decided to pick her up a new book as she’s just obsessed with all her stories right now.  On rainy days we try to buy a new book to read.  Not every rainy day, or my house would become a library, but some of them, and i think it’s a nice little ‘thing’ for us to do. Do you have any little ‘things’ or traditions you do with your kids?

Ohh Wren is so cute and I do love your culottes! Gorgeous!
Such a precious moment to spend time with your little one and your friends. So glad you had a lovely time.
Our little thing on a rainy day is a picnic or cafe role play inside at the moment.
I did actually share this in my instagram story a week ago or so as it was hilarious!
Read if you’ve got a chance… here it was:

Sabrina “Today’s menu is hot chocolate ice cream and egg & sugar sandwich.” (I was already laughing)
Me “Ok, could mummy have one hot chocolate ice cream please?”
Sabrina “Which flavour do you like?”
Me “Em… (still chukkling inside), hot chocolate please?”
Sabrina “Well, it’s not cooked yet, so you can have fruits for now. They are good for you.”

    The end xxx

This post made me smile so much. You’ve got a friend for life in that little one, Sarah – and yes, you both look gorgeous in your Cos outfits!

The Main Street Trading Company looks like just my sort of place, too.

I don’t have any little ones, but I’ve got many fond memories of my parents taking me berry picking when I was a kid. Looks like you guys had a fun time!

Mainstreet Trading Company looks lovely as well. It doesn’t look too far from Newcastle either, so I’ll have to remember it the next time I’m itching for a day out! 😊

Oh we’re not! Not too long passed Jedburgh! And if you ever pop over the Border you absolutely must visit it!! Sx

Oh this is lovely. The picture of Wren in the field is a beauty. I would take my son to John Lewis cafe when he was a toddler. He’d have a cookie and a hot chocolate whilst I had a scone and a coffee and, yes, we’d buy books. Not much has changed now he’s 14.

I really hope to keep it going as long as i possibly can, with all the children that we may have. It could end up being quite expensive!! Sx
